Purpose

The Mount Beauty Secondary College Nordic Ski Centre was established in 1974 through a Schools Innovations Grant. It supports the Snow Programs of Mount Beauty Secondary College and other Victorian Directorate of School Education and non- Directorate of School Education schools. It does this by providing high-quality, low-cost cross-country ski equipment for use in those programs.

Access To Equipment

Equipment held by the Centre is available for use by :-
  1. students attending Mount Beauty Secondary College and its feeder primary schools, whether participating in official school activities or otherwise;
  2. parents of students attending Mount Beauty Secondary College and its feeder primary schools, while skiing with their children;
  3. students attending other schools, while participating in official school activities;
  4. students attending officially-sanctioned Ski Australia skiing camps
Note : members of the public may not access the equipment held by the centre.

Financial Accountability

The operator of the centre will maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all borrowers of its equipment. Such records will indicate the eligibility of the user to access the equipment. All monies received and expended through the operation of the centre will be be subject to the normal financial operation of College Council. Users of the equipment will be expected to contribute towards the Mount Beauty Secondary College Snow Program. The rate of contribution will be established from time to time by the College.

Revenue And Expenditure

All revenue raised through the operation of the centre will be used to support, primarily, the Mount Beauty Secondary College Snow Program, or other College programs, as decided by the Principal, in consultation with College Council.

Safety Considerations / Legal Liability

All equipment will be maintained in safe and sound condition by the operator of the centre. Provided the equipment is issued in such condition the College, its staff, and members of College Council will be indemnified as servants of the Crown. Users from other schools will be covered, in the event of accident, through the excursions approvals processes relevant in those schools.

Purchase Of Equipment Through The Centre

Only equipment intended for use directly through the Centre will be purchased through the College purchasing system. Items purchased sales tax exempt will not be obtained with the intention of re-sale, and will be sold only in line with applicable legislation, ie, after a two-year period.
