Even though there is only one week left in term 3, there is still a lot
happening. Interschool sport is next week and we sent a team of
gymnasts to Melbourne to participate in the Interschool Gymnastics
Competition. This competition is open to all secondary schools in the
state, with competitor numbers being around 1400 over the 4 days.
The students did very well with the Division E Junior female team
placing 1st overall, with Zara Farrington 4th; Division E Junior boys
placing 3rd overall; the Division D Senior
boys coming 1st, with Dylan
Allen 1st, Nathan Iaria 2nd, Will Steele 3rd and a novice Ben Cook
coming 4th; and the Division D girls placing 2nd, with Millie Smith 3rd
and Holly Cootee 5th. What a great effort from a talented bunch of
students. Thank you to Jenny Farrington for coaching and taking the
students, as well as to Shaun Thorpe, Kirsten McDonald and Maddie
for helping transport and supervise.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who volunteer their time to
assist the College and the students. We often rely on parent helpers volunteering, so that extra-
curricular activities can run, like the ski program and other excursions, as well as those that volunteer time to
assist individual students.
Just a few photos from the competition.
This Friday, I will be visiting the School for Student Leadership at the Marlo campus, to hear our students
present their Community Learning Project (CLP). This project has been the main focus of the students
energy for this last part of the term and they have already been in touch to plan how they will carry out their
CLP when back at school.
It will be great to see them and hear about all of the things they have been doing
and learning in their alternative school.
