It is going to be a busy two weeks as the school production of ‘Robin Hood and Maid Marian’ next week is
followed by NAPLAN testing the week after. The drama production performances are on Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday in the Jessie Hollonds Studios and I encourage all our community members to come
along and see our ‘rising stars’ act in what should be a highly entertaining production. Tickets are available
at the General Office at a cost of $10 for adults, $7:50 for students/concession and $5 for Primary students.
NAPLAN testing in Numeracy and Literacy will be held on Tuesday May 15 to Thursday May 17th, for all
students in Years 7 and 9. If a student is absent on a particular day the school will conduct catch-up tests up
to Friday May 18th. Students may be withdrawn from the NAPLAN by a parent, after consultation with the
Principal, by completing a student withdrawal form. These forms are available from Rhonda Gargan at the
school. I do strongly encourage all students to attempt the tests, as the test results
how our students
compare to others at a national level, as well as
provide relevant and useful information for teachers and
parents. Later in the year parents receive their child’s personal NAPLAN report. The report describes the
skills shown in reading, writing, language conventions and numeracy. For more information about the tests,
please visit the NAPLAN website at
The Middle School Outdoor Education class
had an overnight camp at Cope Hut on the High
Plains – a quite windy and cold experience!
