Surf Lessons at Gunnamatta
One of the many highlights of the end of year activity program was the year 8/9 beach camp. The staff and students who attended received fantastic summer weather for four chock a block days of surf, sand and sun. Students were able to participate in activities including swimming, surfing, sea kayaking and being checked out by the stingrays, octopus and sea dragons while snorkelling the Flinders pier. Both students and staff raved about the trip.
Many of our students may consider Melbourne as a possible option for study or work on completion of year 12 but can find the size of the city a little daunting. Each year the Mount Beauty Rotary Club sponsor a trip allowing our year 11 students to become more familiar with Melbourne and confident in moving around the city. The students participated in a range of "The Amazing Race" style orientation activities of Melbourne icons, visited university campuses, explored accommodation options and there was even time for a little shopping.
